Tharu community has made little progress in terms of education. In some communities, schools are found to be near whereas in some communities schools are quite far, as a result in some places, there are educated person and in some places, there is lack of awareness of the importance of pursuing higher education. Tharu children can speak Nepali properly only after the age of ten and start schooling at the age of 5-8 only because all the school curricula are executed in Nepali medium.
Higher secondary school and secondary schools are located in every VDC in Tharu communities but there are only 5 higher secondary schools, 3 secondary schools, 1 lower secondary school and 13 primary schools in 23 villages only. In those schools only 133 Tharu teachers are teaching, assigned to a temporary and nursery post/quota.
